Dr. Howard was raised in Austin, Texas, educated at Princeton University, and received her medical training from the University of California San Francisco.

She specializes in general adult psychiatry and psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and psychodermatology focusing on the emotional burden of skin conditions.

She has co-authored numerous articles and textbook chapters, served as a Clinical Instructor at UCSF in the Department of Dermatology, and has spoken at medical and industry conferences on the interplay of skin health and emotional wellbeing.

Her professional affiliations include the Association for Psychocutaneous Medicine of North America and the Association of American Indian Physicians.
